Staying On Track With Summer Just Around The Corner
Posted on May 17, 2009 by Andrew in Staying On Track .
Whether you’ll be heading off to the pool, the lake or the ocean this summer, they all have one thing in common:
swimsuits. And while most people view a swimsuit as the accessory, a good hard body is the swimsuit’s accessory. So what’s a person to do when he/she finds himself/herself behind in the game? Here are a some tips to keep you burning fat and building muscle in the home stretch!
Limit The Cheats
When you’re prepping your body for summer, your diet is the key. Work out all you want but your physique control factor is derived from what you eat. And while we should always strive to eat those good whole foods, limiting our cheat days/meals is paramount during the Spring months.
Cheat foods, alcoholic beverages (especially binge drinking), and large portioned meals will either place you smack dab in the middle of a dreaded plateau or may even set you back a few months. So whenever you feel the need to take down a Domino’s pasta breadbowl (pure evil), make a plate of vegetables first and eat your meal afterwards. You’ll be more likely to eat a reasonable meal after you have some spinach or broccoli.
Don’t Forget About Intermittent Fasting
We haven’t mentioned intermittent fasting for a while, but this technique can be extremely effective in helping you lose those last 5 or 10 pounds. Keyword here: intermittent. The effectiveness of this technique is only applicable if you use it appropriately. Simply not eating is not a viable option when it comes to shaping a beach body.
So figure out if you have a predictable routine and throw a monkey in the wrench by skipping breakfast. This will allow your body to burn more fat than you think and if you’re eating the proper amount of calories necessary to lose weight, you will find it much more effective than eating 6 to 7 meals a day.
Commitment, Commitment, Commitment
If you’re a faithful reader of Go Healthy Go Fit, you know the moves and what it’s going to take to get you to your goals. The x-factor is your commitment. The question is, do you possess the constitution to go as far as is needed? (bonus points for anyone who knows what movie that’s from)
What tricks do you use to get ready for summer?
