We’ve talked about experimenting with new foods a few times, but what about heart-healthy foods? We all know that fruits and vegetables are usually good at strengthening pretty much everything in our bodies.
So is there anything new we can sort of add to what we are already eating? What foods could you possibly add to your meal plan that will help you and your heart? Let’s check some out, straight from the recommendations of the American Dietetic onionsAssociation:
- Green tea
- Onions, scallions, shallots, garlic, and leeks
- Almonds, pecans, walnuts, and hazelnuts
- Red Grapes
- Salmon, tuna, and mackerel
So how do we add these things into our routine? Well, try having a green tea before you go to the gym. You’ll utilize the caffeine and get more focus for your workout. Chop up the onion, scallions, shallots, garlic, and leeks and just add them to your favorite salad! Same with the nuts, or just by themselves. Red grapes are great for on the go because they aren’t messy. Just go ahead and experiment with everything in your salad, cause that’s what I do with Salmon!
How do you get your heart healthy foods? And no, Cheerios is not on this list nor did it receive an honorable mention.
