Cardio during your lunch break

cybex_pro_treadmill-300x278Chances are that you’ve got a friend or co-worker that does cardio during lunch. Although one might be quick to judge this as “going a little overboard”, it might not be a bad idea for those of us who get out of work late. I remember getting out of work around 8:00 pm and then end up being in the gym until 10:30 pm!! It’s hard to get a complete workout in if you end up going to the gym that late. So why not get your cardio in at lunch! If you think that an abbreviated workout during your lunch break isn’t worth it, think again! According to eHow:

“Think you’re too busy to exercise? Think again: If you work out 3 or 4 days a week for only 20 minutes a day, you will still improve your cardiovascular health, burn calories and tone muscles.”

They go on to give you nine examples of a good cardio workout in 20 minutes, more than enough time to drive to the gym and back to work after showering. A key to sticking with your commitment to doing cardio during lunch is organization. In an article by My Lifetime, they discuss organization:

“Take the time to thoroughly pack your gym bag with all the essentials. Have your iPod charged up and your water bottle filled. You may want to put your gym bag right in front of the door so you can’t help but trip over it when you exit your home. (Avoid that last-minute scavenger hunt for your second sneaker!) Disorganization can derail workouts, especially when there is a race against time, so make a vow to have your stuff in order and ready to go the night before.”
So there you have it! It’s an exercise commitment which will yield results and it fits into your busy lifestyle!
